Chelsea initiate talks with the entourage of Said Benrahma over a move to the London club. Brentford is yet to receive an official bid for the Algerian winger, the Blues have conveyed their formal interest to the Championship club.
Also, Leicester City and Arsenal are said to be interested in signing the 24-year-old, who has 15 goals and eight assists.
Benrahma is a right-footed winger who is equally capable of either cutting inside from the left side to have a shot at goal or glide past players and deliver crosses inside the box. 24-years old Benrahma is a versatile player who can also play as a right-winger and an attacking midfielder.
Brentford is sitting third in the table five points behind first placed West Brom with Four games to play.
Brentford’s front three of Said Benrahma, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins are arguably the best attacking unit in the Championship, the second-tier equivalent of Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The combination of trio is called BMW of Brentford.
Watkins is leading the race for the Golden Boot, along with Aleksandar Mitrovic, with 23 goals.
Mbeumo has scored 15 league goals and seven assists.
Benrahma has 23 goal involvements (fifteen goals, eight assists) his overall influence on Brentford’s success may be the greatest.
The Algerian is a skilful dribbler with excellent technique that allows him to dictate games from wide positions, though he is prone to cutting inside off the left flank.
Rumours about Benrahma’s switch to Stamford Bridge have now been fuelled by his friend, Fahd Moufi, who appeared to drop a major hint on Instagram. During Benrahma’s Instagram live video, Moufi wrote: ‘Congratulations on Chelsea, my bro.’
Be it with back-heels, rainbow flicks or making the opposition look silly, few players outside the Premier League have made a bigger impression than Saïd Benrahma in the past couple of seasons. A technically gifted player with a good sense of timing, Benrahma already plays in a system that bears quite a few similarities with that of Frank Lampard’s.
Of course, signing someone like Jason Sancho would mean real business from Chelsea’s perspective but if they opt for Benrahma, it may turn out to be a pretty useful signing much cheaper than Sancho.
Benrahma is well used to the physical English Football and would come at a price then times cheaper than Sancho.
