RB Leipzig Buying Worries

Timo Werner will move to Chelsea next season.  But RB Leipzig will be able to spend significantly less on new players from the melodious transfer of 53 million euros.  According to information from SPORT BILD, only a sum of between 30 and 35 million euros remains for access.

In addition to taxes, loan repayments to investor Red Bull and the usual share of players and advisors in such transactions, more than six million euros will flow to VfB Stuttgart, which secured a resale clause during the 2016 transfer from Werner to Leipzig.

Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff and Sports Director Markus Krösche have to provide the more than 30 million euros for access if there are no prospects for further sales candidates such as Ademola Lookman (22), Emil Forsberg (28) or Hannes Wolf (21).

In addition,Jean-Kévin Augustin who is currently plying his trade in England with Leeds on loan looks unlikely that would come back to leipzig. Leeds United looking good to get promoted would be definitely looking to get the services of Jean Kevin Augustine with €21m. When Leeds United moves up to the Premier League, around 21 million euros will flow into the RB box office.

Profits from the renewed Champions League qualification and the transfer surplus from the winter when Diego Demme and Matheus Cunha were sold and Dani Olmo added, are largely eaten up by the corona costs.

In the next few weeks there will be concrete negotiations at Leipzig's four desired new appointments.  The originally fixed transfers for the borrowed Patrik Schick and Angeliño are too high for RB, both should cost a maximum of 30 million euros in total.

Benjamin Henrichs (23) remains a hot candidate for the full-back position.  Monaco originally wanted a transfer fee of €38 million.  A loan with a purchase option may be the best solution for everyone involved.

And RB is also looking for a replacement for Werner.  Bremen's Milot Rashicai still on the list, as is Salzburg's Hee-chan Hwang.  Both are realistic for a transfer of just over ten million euros.

The future of Dayot Upamecano is still open.  In Italy, it was reported last weekend that the central defender had decided to switch to Arsenal.  According to SPORT BILD information, Upamecano has not yet refused to extend the contract at RB.  If he pushes for a change, he can go from a transfer of 40 million euros - which would open up new leeway for Leipzig.
